Where to Start?

I am sad, and I am concerned. Very concerned. America seems stuck in a downward spiral. Wasting our time fighting each other instead of helping each other. We're all scared but maybe we're not quite sure why or of what. Or maybe we are sure.

But I'm  also hopeful. America always has been a place of great ideas, great men and women who want to make this a better place. That is who we are. And that is why we can figure this out and get back on the right track.

This blog is a place where anyone who truly wants to try to figure out how we can move ahead towards our greatness can speak. But how to speak so that we make positive progress? We need some rules. Table manners for the big roundtable if you will.

Rules for the Big Roundtable

  • Leave aside labels--political party names, etc. There labels only freeze our minds into old patterns
  • Base our comments on what we know personally to be true, our learned experience about people, communities, science, etc.
  • Snarky comments have no place in thoughtful discussion; comments should be helpful. As mom said, if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything
  • Anyone is welcome to comment as long as they follow the rules.
  • We may need to modify the rules---Please give suggestions as we go.

So, let's start. What do we want for America? Where do we want to be in five years, ten years, and fifty years? What has made us great, and what will make us greater in the future?
